Summer Certification

Orff Level 1 & 2 Certification will be offered July 5 to July 15 including Saturday, July 8 & July 15, 2017 (Join us for a trip to the beach on Saturday night, July 8, 6-8p.m.)

This teacher-training workshop is open to music specialists, classroom teachers with music background, church musicians, choral directors, and other educators whose interests lie primarily in the interactive learning of music, and undergraduate seniors pursuing a degree in music education (previous Orff Chapter workshop attendance is recommended).

Tentative Daily Schedule:

8:30 – 9:00  Morning songs and rounds

9:00 – 11:00   Basic Pedagogy

11:15 – 12:15  Recorder  

12:15 – 1:15    Lunch

1:15 – 2:30  Movement 

*2:45 – 3:45  Basic Pedagogy  

4:00 – 4:45   Special Topics (ukulele, choir techniques, and world music)

First 25 registered participants will have a ukulele to play during the workshop.

Workshop Fee: $400.00. Make checks payable to TAMUK.

Housing Options:

1) Very nice on-campus residence hall (Lucio Hall) room $22.50 per night includes private bedrooms, shared bath, and common area (refrigerator and sink). Total cost: $225.00. There is a kitchen per floor. You can bring your own cooking utensils to cook. You are required to bring your own bedding and towels. Check in time will be July 4, 2017 between 3pm to 10pm. Check out time July 15, 2017 between 5pm to 9pm.

2) Partially free Summer Housing for July 5-15, 2017: LIN INTERNATIONAL HOUSE 1523 East FM 1717, Kingsville, TX 78363.  From Ms. Gomez: We are a non-profit organization & we do house international students for the first 7 days for free, then we have to begin charging $10 a day. The house is over 5,000 square feet & it is divided up into 2 sections. We have a female dorm (holds 8-10) and a separate male dorm (holds up 12) with bunk beds. There is a refrigerator, stove & a microwave available for use. That is all on one side of the house. One restroom for the male students to share & one restroom for the female students to share only. We also do not provide any meals. The other side is where we live & we manage the property. We live approximately 12 miles from TAMUK so students are required to find their own transpiration to & from the university.
